A downloadable game for Windows

Game Description:

Why Did the Chicken Cross the Globe? is a goofy 3D puzzle-platformer inspired by Super Mario 64.

You play as Popcorn, a clumsy wizard's apprentice who has accidentally transformed themself into a wide-eyed, frantic little chicken. To undo the spell and return to your human form, you must prove you’ve learned your lesson by jumping into the magic snow globes in your master wizard's study.

Each globe is a tiny world with three types of challenges:
🐣 Egg Collection – Track down hidden eggs scattered throughout the world.
🧠 Puzzle Solving – Use your wits (and telekinetic powers!) to solve the puzzle.
🪵 Platforming Trials – Glide, leap, and bounce your way across the terrain full of wind tunnels, launchpads, moving platforms and more.

Armed with telekinesis and a gliding jump. Use your tiny chicken brain to utilize telekinetic objects, pressure plates, and more to outwit magical mechanisms to find the scrolls to return to your human form.

 About the Developers:

Six strangers from across the globe, stretching from New Zealand to Poland, Germany, Italy and Texas. Together, decided to make a game about a telekinetic chicken for the 2025 GameDev.tv Game Jam

Will : GitHub
I'm Will, originally from the US but now I live in Poland. I have my degree in Mathematics and have been a traditional artist professionally for 13 years. I started my game dev journey in 2024 learning C++, Blender and Unreal Engine. This is my 4th published game. It's been my dream to make games since I was 8. My main passions are game design, programming, animation and art design.

Gerhardt : GitHubitchEmail
Hey everyone, I'm Gerhardt. I'm  from New Zealand and former 3D technical director for film/tv who decided to take the plunge into game dev. I've mostly focused on learning C++ and Unreal Engine. I've also been slowly learning some TA disciplines such as Substance Designer and Houdini for creating procedural assets. I decided to get into game dev because it allowed me utilize my skills from my TD background as well as the opportunity to learn programming, math, game design, and everything else that game dev challenges you to learn. I really enjoy learning new things and that's been a big motivator for me. I've done one game jam previously (GMTK), but at the time I was so fresh with programming I ended up just focusing on the art side of things.

Davide : itch
Hi, I’m Davide. I’m from Italy. Currently finishing my Biomedical Engineering degree. I got into programming as a kid by coding mods for Minecraft, which then evolved into learning Unreal, since I was seeking more creative freedom. I’ve been using Unreal on and off for the last couple of years, mostly focusing on multiplayer-related stuff, and building a strong base of plugins to use as a foundation for a game. Lately I’ve started learning blender too. Beside coding, I love to make music. I’m familiar with multiple DAWs (FL, Ableton, and Logic). This is my first jam and first published game.

Randy
Howdy, I'm Randy and I'm from Texas. I have a bachelors in Computer Science. C++ and C# are my primary languages at the moment, and I just recently found my passion in game dev. Some projects I've worked on in the past were developing a few NES games in C, and full stack web applications.

Jonathan : Portfolio - itch
Hey all, I'm Jonathan, a UI designer and artist from New Zealand. My experience is being a digital creative for 11 years in graphic and web design and illustration before pivoting into games UI. I've done a few jams and worked on UI design for a couple of local game projects, and am looking to upskill in engine implementation.

Tara : itch
Hey ho, I'm Tara, from Germany. I'm a software developer with some experience being a team lead in former GMTK game jams & doing game/ level design and testing. I really like low level and functional programming languages, especially Rust. I have some experience in Unity, Godot and SFML.
